How do I know if my seat is at the proper recline angle when installed?

Refer to the label on the sides of the base of the seat shown in Figure 25. For children under 1 year old, Ground Level must be within the dark blue recline range. For children 1 year and over, ground level must be within either the dark blue recline range or the light blue range.

You may also download an application on your smart phone that measures angles. Place the phone against either the child Seat Back or against the metal reinforcement tubes that extend the back of the child seat to measure the seating angle. For children under 1 year of age, who are able to sit upright unassisted, the seat MUST be greater than 30 degrees and no more than 45 degrees. For children 1 year and over, the seat MUST be greater than 20 degrees and no more than 45 degrees.

If an acceptable recline level cannot be achieved using the vehicle seat back adjustment, if vehicle owner’s manual allows multiple positions, it may be necessary to place a rolled towel or pool noodle under the foot end of the car seat to achieve an acceptable recline level.
